Diary of a Healthy Cooking and Learning Group

ALN Healthy Cooking and Learning Sessions    23rd January 2013

In session 3 we made a lovely Italian risotto.  It was made with healthy vegetables, risotto rice and only a little cream cheese, proving that risotto is very healthy and does not need to be loaded with cream.  It is a dish you can adjust to your own taste and use up vegetables that are in the fridge.

We then made chicken coated in breadcrumbs – the healthy way!  There was no frying involved and the chicken was fresh and tasty and cheaper and healthier than take away/fast food.

We learned about the ‘Traffic Light’ system which some supermarkets use to label food (Red Amber Green) when talking about fat, sugar and salt content.  We will learn more about this at the next session.  All very interesting!
